Are you an audio/visual learner, or maybe reading works better? The main point is that you can receive what God's Word says in a practical way that will help you change your life, live by His Kingdom ways, and get God's results.
And you'll probably find yourself taking a few notes and heading down some side quests of your own along the way!
Message begins approximately 53:00
Prayer is not a last resort or an exercise in begging. Through Jesus, believers have access to the Father and are invited to approach the throne with confidence, work with the Holy Spirit, and cooperate with Heaven for God's purposes on the earth.
Pastor Paul begins with a foundational truth: prayer is access. The pressures of a fallen world constantly pull attention toward the soul, emotions, and circumstances, but prayer brings the believer back to the throne of grace and to the Father's help.
"Prayer is never our last resort."
Prayer is not only about changing circumstances or helping someone else. Time with the Father works in the person praying. It brings the heart, mind, and responses back into alignment with God.
"Prayer changes the one who prays."
James 5:17-18 presents Elijah as a man with a nature like ours, yet his prayer made tremendous power available. The Bible stresses that effective prayer is not reserved for a spiritual elite.
"What we pray produces power."
Faith comes by hearing the Word. Pastor Paul describes speaking Scripture until the Word is not merely remembered as information, but released from the heart while the Holy Spirit helps the believer pray.
"Your spirit needs to hear you speaking the Word."
Prayer is an invitation to cooperate with God. The believer is not trying to persuade a reluctant Father, but responding to a covenant relationship and allowing the Holy Spirit to help bring God's purposes into manifestation.
"I have an invitation to cooperate with God for His purposes on the earth through me."
THINK ABOUT IT
• What changes when you approach prayer as access to the Father rather than a last resort?
• Are you praying from confidence in covenant, or slipping into begging when pressure rises?
• Where could the Word and the Holy Spirit work together more deliberately in your prayer life?
PUT IT INTO PRACTICE
Approach the Father deliberately with Hebrews 4:16 in view. Bring the Word into your prayer, listen for the Holy Spirit's help, and pray from the position of a son or daughter who has been given access.
